Since 2005, we have facilitated a FREE Wednesday Writing Workshop at the Creative (1120 Smith Street Suite 215) in Honolulu's historic Chinatown. The workshop is from 4:30pm-6:00 and attracts students from all over the island. This is the longest running writing workshop on the island of O'ahu. The workshop is a safe environment for writers and performers of all levels to develop their voice and their craft. Facilitated by a rotation of amazing local and international facilitators, these workshops encourage high-level critical conversations, push the aesthetic of spoken arts and form a strong youth literary community. Students of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
Facilitated by Isabel Elliott
Isabel Elliott is a two time Brave New Voices champion and alumni member of the Denver Minor Disturbance Youth Poetry Slam Team. She is currently a student at Boston University learning the scientific wonders of the human brain and having excessive feelings about feminism. Isabel started writing when she was 15 in the deepest throws of teen angst and is forever learning how to say what is necessary and important instead of easy and pretty. She writes about home and fire.
